ASUNAROU RAILWAY

Experience the train ride with local people and discover the history of old Yokkaichi. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a ride of one of the only two narrow gauge train lines in  Japan.  The width of the gauge is half of Shinkansen (bullet train).

Get off the train and walk along the old Tokaido road. Tokaido is one of  the five routes that connects Kyoto to Edo (now Tokyo) during the Edo Era (1600 - 1868).

OIWAKE

The 43rd Station On The Tokaido Road

Oiwake is where the old Tokaido road separates. Travelers could choose to go to either Kyoto or Ise Shrine.


You can pass through an old torii-gate and see spring water near by.

Learn About Local History, Folklore, And Culture

On this part of the tour, you can enjoy wagashi (Japanese traditional sweets) made by the confectionary that’s been in the area over 100 years.

Kabuse-cha (the mild flavored tea grown in the area) is served on this tour as well.

Mie Prefecture is the third largest tea producer in Japan.

Japan's Soy Sauce And Miso

Isegura is a soy sauce brewery that has been producing red miso and soy sauce for over 90 years.


Currently ran by a 5th generation master who inherited the traditional brewing methods that have been passed down over time.


Enjoy the aroma of miso and soy sauce and try their amazing miso soup.

Traditional Japanese Fans

Japanese fans have been used for over 300 years for cooling off in the summer. People don't only use them to stay cool, but also enjoy the colors and  textures of the designs.


Hinaga-uchiwa (Hinaga traditional Japanese fans) are made from bamboo and each one is handmade.


You can choose your favorite uchiwa for yourself or you can buy it for someone else. It will be a perfect souvenir from your visit to Japan.
